Have fun in P.E. this year. We will start the year building up strength and endurance. The first
six weeks we will practice our standing jump, one minute sit-ups and 40 yard dash for kindergarten and 1st grade. 2nd grade and 3rd grade add a 1/4 mile run. 4th and 5th grade will add a 1/2 mile run and the shuttle run. 6th, 7th and 8th grade will do all the above, but will run one mile.
The younger grades will practice fine and gross motor skills throughout the year. Tossing and catching bean bags and balls will improve hand eye coordination, four whistle drills will help with balancing and changing movements between walking, hopping, skipping or galloping and running.
Jump roping will take place in every grade from 1st - 8th grade.
Lower grades will have fun participating in parachute and scooter activities. Sports like soccer, basketball. volleyball, kickball/softfball/wiffleball, lacrosse, floor hockey and dodgeball (grades )4th-8th) will be introduced and active participation will be expected.
In the spring, the annual St. Damian obstacle course competition will place for all grades, consisting of running through a course with many obstacles that is timed for speed and accuracy.
Have fun! Stay Fit! Eat healthy!
Go Lancers!
